Eintracht Frankfurt vs Bayer Leverkusen
Eintracht Frankfurt and Bayer Leverkusen are set to square off at Deutsche Bank Park in a tasty-looking Bundesliga encounter.
Eintracht Frankfurt will try to achieve what no one has this season and become the first side to beat new Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen amid a rough six-game patch (W1, D2, L3) as they bid to cling on to sixth place. Dino Toppmoller’s side made a valiant attempt to avoid defeat at Bayern Munich last weekend but slipped to a 2-1 defeat anyway. However, they’ve been a different beast at home this season, losing just once all Bundesliga campaign (W7, D7, L1) while winning two of their last four league games at Deutsche Bank Park by an identical 3-1 scoreline. It’s also worth noting that Die Adler boast an eye-catching five-game winning home streak against Leverkusen, including a 5-1 demolition in this fixture last term.
As for Bayer Leverkusen, they lived up to their new nickname, ‘Neverlusen,’ in midweek Europa League action, easing past Roma 2-0 in the first leg of their semi-final tie to set one foot in the final. Leverkusen’s dream season is getting better and better, as after clinching their first Bundesliga title, they’ve taken their unbeaten run in all competitions to 47 games (W39, D8). Xabi Alonso’s side navigated troubled waters last weekend, hauling back a two-goal deficit for the first time this season to draw 2-2 against Stuttgart, courtesy of their 16th goal of 2023/24 to have come beyond the 90th minute. The division’s second most prolific attack has netted on either side of halftime in a league-high 22 of their 31 Bundesliga matches this season!
