After a 6-0 dismantling of Galatasaray in the Champions League, Real Madrid will be looking to maintain winning momentum when they take on Eibar at the Estadio Municipal de Ipurua in the La Liga (LL) showdown.

Eibar’s sudden rise has seen them go from two consecutive LL defeats to back-to-back triumphs, both of which have come via the same 2-1 scoreline. It will be important for the hosts to maintain that level of consistency here, as they’ve lost four consecutive top-flight home H2Hs with Real Madrid before last season’s 3-0 victory. It’s been ‘all or nothing’ for Los Armeros when at home this term (W3, L2), with four of those fixtures producing over 2.5 goals. Far more comfortable on home turf, the ‘Azulgranas’ have aggregated nine of their total 14 LL points at the Estadio Municipal de Ipurua (64%), with 57% of their LL goals scored arriving at home too (eight of 14).

Meanwhile, the visitors have endured mixed fortunes in their last five LL outings (W2, D2, L1), with all three of those failures seeing them draw a blank. But, both of Real’s previous league triumphs have seen them score in both halves respectively and bag 4+ goals per match without conceding a single one. However, for Los Blancos, goals have been at a premium when on the road recently, as Zinedine Zidane’s men struggled to find the back of the net in three of their last five competitive trips, netting precisely one goal per match in the remaining two. Although level on points with toppers Barcelona (22), only 36% of Real’s total league points have come away from home, with Los Merengues pulling off just two wins in five LL road trips so far (D2, L1).
