Eibar vs Barcelona 18/05/19
18 May 2019
Eibar and Barcelona will face-off at the Estadio Municipal de Ipurua in the final round of La Liga fixtures, as the hosts hope to snap an eight-game losing streak against the Catalans.
A run of poor form has seen Eibar pick up two wins in their last five LL outings (W2, L3), with four of those games ending with the identical 1-0 scoreline (two in their favor and two against). Stubborn at the back but unprolific in the final third, José Luis Mendilibar’s men have struggled to entertain the fans recently, with all six of their last LL matches featuring under 2.5 goals. Still, the hosts have been impressive at this venue in 2019 (W5, D2, L2), with four of their five home wins since the turn of the year saw them beat their opponents to nil. However, Los Armeros have not only lost all four of their previous H2H meetings with Barcelona here, but they’ve also failed to find the net across all of those clashes while allowing 2+ match goals each time.
Meanwhile, the visitors have managed to defend La Liga title after a stunning league campaign that has seen them secure 26 wins in 37 outings. Even though they’ve not enjoyed the best of times away from home lately (W2, D2, L1), the Catalans still boast the best LL away record (W11, D5, L2). Also, they’ve scored more road goals than any other team in LL (37), sharing the joint-best defensive record at the same time (17). Still, all three of Barca’s last LL away games have featured under 2.5 goals, with two of them ending with the same 2-0 scoreline (one in their favor and one against). Interestingly, just one of the Blaugrana’s previous 11 competitive matches has seen both teams score, with only four of them producing over 2.5 goals.
