Eibar vs Atletico Madrid 20/04/19

20 April 2019

Eibar and Atletico Madrid meet face-to-face at the Estadio Municipal de Ipurua for a clash that won’t change much for either side.

Residing 13th with a nine-point lead over 18th-placed Valladolid, the hosts are quite confident of preserving their top-flight status although they’ve gone through all sorts of trouble in the recent period. Only Valencia (16) have played out more draws than Eibar (13) this season, with five of those stalemates coming in their last ten La Liga fixtures (W2, D5, L3). Los Armeros’ defensive frailties that have seen them keep barely one clean sheet in their previous ten LL outings is the main reason for their recent struggling. However, all six of Eibar’s last LL triumphs have arrived at this venue although only two of those saw José Luis Mendilibar’s men beating teams from the upper half of the table. Also, the Azulgranas have scored 28 of a total of 42 of their LL goals at home (66.67), netting 2+ match goals in four of their last six league home clashes.

Meanwhile, the visitors’ pursuit of LL crown may have come a cropper already as they currently trail league toppers Barcelona by nine points with six LL fixtures left to go. Atletico’s indifferent road form (W6, D6, L4) is one of the reasons they are sitting second at the moment, with Diego Simeone’s players enduring mixed fortunes over their previous six LL road games (W3, L3). Interestingly, all four of Los Colchoneros’ LL away losses have seen them failed to find the back of the net while five of their six league road wins saw them beating their rivals to nil. Also, goals have been in short supply in Los Rojiblancos’ last six LL away clashes as just one of them featured over 2.5 goals while none saw goals on both ends.
