Deportivo Alaves vs Valencia 05/01/19

05 January 2019

Deportivo Alaves welcome Valencia to the Estadio Mendizorrotza looking to extend an impressive eight-game home lossless run in La Liga.

Although unbeaten at home after eight La Liga clashes (W4, D4) the Babazorros come into this meeting after back-to-back home draws that both produced under 2.5 goals. Moreover, goals have been in short supply in their last five league encounters, with four of them producing under 2.5 goals. Just 38% of Alaves’ home games ended with more than two goals, with Abelardo’s men conceding one goal or less in all eight meetings at the Estadio Mendizorrotza. Meanwhile, El Glorioso scored one goal or less in seven out of the previous eight competitive matches, failing to hit the back of the net three times in the process.

The same goes for the visitors in terms of efficiency considering seven of Valencia’s eight road encounters produced under 2.5 goals with the Bats scoring over 1.5 goals per match just once during the run. Marcelino Garcia Toral’s men have failed to score on four road trips this term, with only one team notching fewer goals than Valencia (5) so far. Although winning two (both with the identical 1-0 scoreline) of their last five road clashes, the Oranges are winless in their previous two games away from home (D1, L1). However, the Bats are unbeaten in their last three La Liga outings (D2, W1) with all of them seeing both teams scoring, as they come into this encounter after a 2-1 home win over Huesca.

All of six competitive H2H meetings between the two since Alaves rejoined the top flight produced over 2.5 goals with both teams finding their names on the scoresheet in each.
