Darmstadt vs Feyenoord 10/07/19

10 July 2019

Darmstadt and Feyenoord will face-off at the Silberstadt Arena Schwaz for a friendly match that will see the two in-form sides looking to build on recent successes.

Both teams have done well during the preparation campaign. While Feyenoord pulled off two wins over lower-league outfits Putten and Dordrecht, Darmstadt put together three straight triumphs in which they’ve scored 24 goals without conceding once.

A turbulent 2. Bundesliga campaign followed by a lot of ups and downs has seen Darmstadt finishing tenth in the German second tier with a negative -8 goal difference. But, the Lilies have been impressive in all three of their warm-up matches, scoring seven or more goals in each, though they’ve faced off low-profile opponents. Friendlies aside, all four of Darmstadt’s wins in the closing stage of the season have been settled by a narrow one-goal margin, with two of them ending with the same 1-0 scoreline.

Meanwhile, the Club on the Meuse’s inability to cope with the likes of PSV and Ajax will see them miss out on the Champions League next campaign after finishing third in the Eredivisie last season. Nonetheless, Feyenoord’s outstanding displays in the final part of the Dutch championship have seen them six wins in seven league outings (W6, L1), with Jaap Stam’s men netting 2+ match goals across all of those triumphs. Also, ten of Feyenoord’s last 11 games have featured over 2.5 goals, with six of them seeing both teams score.
