Daegu vs Sangju Sangmu 29/05/20

29 May 2020

Daegu and Sangju Sangmu go head-to-head at the Daegu Stadium in the opening match of the K League 1 Matchday 4.

Authors of a rather disappointing start to the new league campaign, the hosts have yet to pick up a victory after the opening three rounds of fixtures (D2, L1), drawing a blank twice in the process. For Lee Byung-keun’s men, goals have been at a premium over the past seven months. Indeed, they’ve failed to hit the net in five of seven league matches during that period, scoring precisely one goal per game once in the other two. Daegu’s hopes of finding their footing here face another uphill task as they take on a side they’ve failed to outscore in both of their previous top-flight H2Hs (D1, L1).

Meanwhile, the visitors have stepped up their performances following a dismal 4-0 away loss to Ulsan Hyundai in the curtain-raiser, securing back-to-back league triumphs in the build-up to this encounter. Both of those successes have seen Sangju keep a clean sheet and open the scoring inside the first 25 minutes of action. But, taking into account their results from the final stretch of the last season, the ‘Sangju Firebirds’ have pulled off just two wins in their eight previous league trips (D2, L4), with the last three of those results (win/loss) seeing the winner on the day keep a blank sheet.
