Daegu vs Pohang Steelers 16/05/20

16 May 2020

Daegu will take on Pohang Steelers at the Daegu Stadium this weekend, hoping to stretch their unbeaten run in K League 1 H2Hs to five matches (W2, D2).

A goalless 0-0 away draw with Incheon now means that three of the hosts’ last five league matches have ended without a single goal. Things don’t look promising for Daegu at home either, considering they’ve failed to secure a win in five consecutive league games at this venue (D3, L2). It’s, therefore, not strange that just three of their eight previous league home fixtures have seen over 2.5 goals and both teams on the scoresheet. In turn, they’ve not only won just once in their last three K League 1 home H2Hs with Pohang, but they struggled to find the net in both of the remaining encounters (D1, L1).

On the other hand, the visitors enjoyed a convincing start to the new league campaign, clinching a comfortable 2-0 home victory over Busan. As a result, they are now unbeaten in five consecutive league matches (W3, D2), keeping a clean sheet on three of those occasions. Away from home, just one of their last five league fixtures has ended in a draw (W3, L1), with three of those results (win/loss) seeing the winner on the day keep a blank sheet. Finding the opening goal will be vital for Pohang, as they lost all three of their previous league road trips in which they’ve conceded the opener.
