Crystal Palace vs Tottenham Hotspur 26/07/20

26 July 2020

Out-of-sorts Crystal Palace take on in-form Tottenham Hotspur at Selhurst Park on the final matchday of the 2019/20 Premier League season.

The hosts have gone from four straight Premier League wins to six consecutive defeats, with nine of those ten results (win/loss) seeing the winner on the day keep a clean sheet. In turn, all seven of their previous top-flight H2Hs saw Crystal Palace go down without finding the net (L7), which has also been true in four of their five Premier League home losses this calendar year. A genuine lack of firepower up front has seen Palace score a league-low 14 home goals this season on a miserable average of 0.77 goals per game. Particularly ponderous in the attacking third in the first half of play, the Eagles have netted just four Premier League goals before the break at home so far (the division’s low).

Meanwhile, the visitors take the field after putting together five league games without a loss (W4, D1), with the last two of those wins yielding at least a two-goal margin. Potential victory here will propel Jose Mourinho’s side to the Europa League group stage if Wolves fail to beat Chelsea in their season finale. However, away from home in the Premier League, Spurs have won just once in their previous five trips (D2, L2), scoring under 1.5 goals on four of those occasions. Still, five of Tottenham’s last six Premier League trips have featured goals in both halves, with six of the nine goals they scored across those fixtures arriving after the break.
