Crystal Palace vs Liverpool 23/11/19

23 November 2019

Crystal Palace and Liverpool go head-to-head at Selhurst Park, with the traveling side looking to extend their winning run in the Premier League (PL) H2Hs to five games.

The hosts’ dip in form has seen them go from three consecutive PL games without a loss (W2, D1) to four successive matches without a victory (D1, L3). Curiously, all three of Palace’s previous league defeats have come via the identical 2-0 scoreline, with two of the last seeing them concede two goals in the second half. Goals have been at a premium for the Eagles so far, as they’ve netted over 1.5 match goals in just one of six PL home outings, drawing a blank three times. Another failure is on the cards here, given that they’ve lost all five of their previous competitive H2H meetings with Liverpool at this venue. All of those defeats have seen them concede at least two goals, while four witnessed them bag one or less.

Meanwhile, high-flying visitors go into this encounter on the back of a 3-1 thumping of Manchester City ahead of the international break, with stretched their winning PL run to three games. In fact, last season’s runners-up have won 11 of their opening 12 league fixtures, with a 1-1 away draw with Manchester United being the only exception. But, most of Liverpool’s PL away triumphs this term have been hard-fought, as four of their five road wins came via a single-goal margin. Moreover, just 11 of their total 28 league goals scored so far have arrived on the road, with Jurgen Klopp’s men netting precisely one goal per match in two of their last three PL trips.
