Costa Rica vs Bermuda 21/06/19

21 June 2019

Costa Rica and Bermuda will face-off at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas in contrasting circumstances.

The most successful football team in the UNCAF history started their Gold Cup campaign with a commanding 4-0 triumph over Nicaragua. All five of Costa Rica’s outings in 2019 have not witnessed goals at both ends, but the aforementioned success was the first one that has produced over 2.5 goals since the turn of the year. Interestingly, three of those five games have ended with the identical 1-0 scoreline (W1, L2). Notably, Los Ticos have yet to play out a draw since their miserable World Cup appearance (W4, L7), with Costa Rica failing to find the net in five of those failures. Still, they have bagged over 2.5 goals in three of four of their recent wins, scoring at least one goal in the first half across all of those matches.

Meanwhile, the Gombey Warriors will look to forget their debut at the Gold Cup as soon as possible, considering they suffered a 2-1 loss to Haiti despite they had a 1-0 lead at the halftime break. It was Bermuda’s fourth outing in 2019, and also the third that has produced over 2.5 goals and the second that has seen both teams score. Kyle Lightbourne’s players have qualified for their first major tournament after a prolific CONCACAF Nations League campaign that has seen them secure three wins in four matches (W3, L1), with two of those triumphs being accompanied by a clean sheet.
