Colombia vs Paraguay 24/06/19

24 June 2019

Paraguay will take on Colombia at the Arena Fonte Nova in Salvador for what will likely be a must-win game for Los Guaraníes if they look to qualify for the Copa America knockout phase.

The Colombians have already secured their place in the knockout stage after beating Argentina and Qatar in the first two Copa America round of fixtures. Interestingly, both of their wins have seen them beat their rivals to nil while scoring all three of their goals at the tournament in the second half. Additionally, Los Cafeteros are now on a four-game winning run, with all of those triumphs being accompanied by a clean sheet while Carlos Queiroz’s men produced over 1.5 match goals three times in the process. Another encouraging fact for Colombia is that they’ve picked up five wins in their previous six H2H meetings with Paraguay (W5, L1), scoring 2+ match goals four times across those encounters.

Meanwhile, the Paraguayans have played out two straight draws at the beginning of the competition, although they were on the front foot at the halftime break on both occasions. Los Guaraníes’ dreadful run of form has seen them pull off just one triumph in their last ten outings (W1, D4, L5), with Paraguay preserving a clean slate only once across that period. However, La Albirroja have been on a free-scoring streak lately, scoring in each of their last five games, while netting over 1.5 goals per match three times along the way.
