Colombia vs Chile 13/10/19

13 October 2019

Colombia (D3) and Chile (D2, L4) will try to put an end to their respective winless runs when they lock horns this weekend in an international friendly at the Estadio José Rico Pérez in Alicante.

Both of Colombia’s international friendlies since exiting the 2019 Copa America have ended in a draw and seen them draw a blank in the second half. La Tricolor’s main strength in a fairly decent 2019 (W6, D3, L1) has been a stubborn backline that has kept a clean sheet in eight of ten outings, friendlies included. However, Carlos Queiroz will be desperate to see his side improving in the final third, as Los Cafeteros have scored one goal or less in four of their last five matches. That seems unlikely to change here though, as Colombia last scored 2+ match goals against Chile in 2013, failing to do that in the last four H2H meetings (D3, L1).

Meanwhile, a poor run of form has seen Chile fail to pick up a win inside 90 minutes six straight games ahead of this one (D2, L4). For Chile, goals have been at a premium during that run, as they drew a blank four times while scoring one goal precisely in the remaining two matches. Also, La Roja have found themselves on the wrong end of a 2-1 scoreline twice in their last three outings (D1), producing a total of six shots on target across those games. But, only one defeat in the last nine H2Hs with Colombia (W4, D4, L1) indicates they might be standing in front of a perfect opportunity to snap a disappointing streak.
