Club Tijuana vs Boca Juniors 11/07/19

11 July 2019

Club Tijuana and Boca Junior will face-off at the Estadio Caliente for a friendly clash that will see the two teams trying to stretch their unbeaten runs to three games.

The Mexican side has already been involved in two friendlies that have produced virtually no entertainment. Los Xolos have defeated Orange County 1-0 in their first summer friendly before being held to a scoreless draw to Dallas FC a few days ago. Interestingly, though, all five of Tijuana’s preceding outings have featured over 2.5 goals with four of them seeing both teams score (W2, L3). Notably, a 0-0 draw with Dallas FC was Tijuana’s first since late February after which none of the upcoming 14 games has ended in a stalemate (W7, L7).

Boca Juniors, meanwhile, go into this clash off the back of back-to-back wins over Club America and Chivas Guadalajara in the Colossus Cup, scoring two goals apiece. Boca’s main strength over the past couple of months has been a stubborn defense that has kept five clean sheets in the last seven matches. But, in the same period, Boca’s unprolific attack has struggled to find the net on four occasions. As a result, just one of the Xeneizes’ last seven games has featured over 2.5 goals and produced goals at both ends. Still, Azul y Oro’s impressive form since early April has seen them sustain just one loss in 15 games (W8, D6, L1).
