Chivas Guadalajara vs Atletico Madrid 24/07/19

24 July 2019

Atletico Madrid will kick off their 2019 International Champions Cup campaign at the Globe Life Park in Arlington as they take on the Mexican outfit Chivas Guadalajara.

The reigning CONCACAF Champions League holders are going through a rough period, having suffered 13 losses in their last 15 outings across all competitions (W1, D1, L13). What’s more, they come into this clash carrying a six-game losing streak on their backs. All of those defeats have seen Las Chivas concede two or more goals, with Tomás Boy’s men scoring just two goals in the process. Las Chivas Rayadas won’t have good memories of their debut in the ICC as they’ve suffered two losses in as many games in the tournament. Still, seven of Guadalajara’s last eight matches have featured over 2.5 goals, with five of them seeing both teams score.

Meanwhile, Los Rojiblancos go into this encounter off the back of a comfortable 3-0 win over Numancia in their first friendly this summer. It was Atletico’s first victory after four consecutive failures (D2, L2). But, those matches have not been short of entertainment though, as three of those games have produced over 2.5 goals, and three have seen both teams score. If Los Colchoneros it will probably see them keep a clean sheet, as 14 of their 15 wins since the turn of the year saw them beat their rivals to nil.
