Chile vs Argentina 06/09/19

6 September 2019

Chile and Argentina will face-off at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum for an international friendly fixture that will see Chile try to post their first win over La Albiceleste in 90 minutes after eight unsuccessful attempts.

The Chileans finished fourth at the 2019 Copa America thanks to a 2-1 loss to Argentina in the third-place playoff, and they’ll have revenge on their minds here. But, it will be a daunting prospect for Chile to beat Argentina as they’ve suffered four defeats in their previous five H2Hs with the South American giants (D1, L3). For Chile, goals have been in short supply lately, as they’ve scored just one goal in their last three games although they’ve produced 15 shots on target across those matches. Still, La Roja’s recent outings have not lacked entertainment, as five of their last seven games featured over 2.5 goals with three of them witnessing goals at both ends.

Meanwhile, the Argentineans won three of six matches in the CA (W3, D1, L2), scoring precisely two goals per match and conceding a total of one across those triumphs. Notably, seven of Argentina’s nine victories in the post-World Cup period have seen them beat their rivals to nil, with four of those matches ending with the same 2-0 scoreline in their favor. Just three of La Albiceleste’s games since the turn of the year have featured over 2.5 goals and seen both teams score, with Argentina winning two of them (W2, L1).
