Chievo Verona vs Juventus 19/08/18
19 August 2018
With the 2018-2019 Serie A campaign just around the corner, the holders Juventus are seeking their eighth successive league title, as they look to face off against Chievo Verona at the Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi in the opening match of the new season. After a mediocre performance last season, the Yellow and Blues barely dodged the relegation thanks to some encouraging displays in the final stage of the season, and the new head coach, Lorenzo D’Anna, hopes to shake things up a bit this term. The Flying Donkeys started the preparation period with two routine wins over the low-quality Italian teams, Virtus Verona and Cittadella, after which they suffered two straight losses, to Napoli and Hoffenheim, but D’Anna’s team recorded a victory in the first official match, defeating Pescara 1-0 in the Coppa Italia. On the other hand, the Old Lady have lost 3-1 to Real Madrid after achieving three consecutive wins, over Bayern Munich, Benfica, and the MLS All-Stars, although Massimiliano Allegri didn’t have the chance to test Cristiano Ronaldo and almost his entire starting eleven in none of these games. The Black and Whites are entering the new season with huge expectations, especially when it comes to the Champions League, but there’s no doubt they are the principal candidates to lift the Serie A trophy as well.
The home side will be at full strength according to the latest reports, while Leonardo Spinazzola should be the only missing player in the visiting squad.
