Chelsea vs West Ham United 30/11/19

30 November 2019

Chelsea and West Ham United go head-to-head at Stamford Bridge, with the home side looking to return to winning ways in the Premier League (PL).

A 2-1 away defeat to Manchester City last weekend has halted Chelsea’s six-game winning PL run, and it was the first time since late September that they’ve conceded more than one goal per PL match. But, the Blues have put together three straight PL home triumphs, all of which have been accompanied by a clean sheet and saw Franck Lamparad’s side win after a goalless first-half. The Pensioners are likely to stretch their impressive home streak here, as they’ve beaten West Ham in nine of their previous 13 top-flight home H2Hs (W9, D4). In fact, Chelsea’s last PL home loss to West Ham dates back to 2002, while they avoided defeat in three consecutive PL H2Hs ahead of this clash (W1, D2).

Meanwhile, the visitors are going through a nightmarish period, having failed to pick up a win in their last seven PL fixtures (D2, L5). Additionally, six of those games have seen the Irons concede at least two goals, while four saw them score one or less. Also, the Hammers have drawn a blank in three of their previous four PL road trips, conceding over 1.5 match goals in the last three. Also, they have allowed their rivals score inside the opening 20 minutes in three successive PL away matches ahead of this trip. Manuel Pellegrini’s men have been far more prolific at home so far, which could be troubling here. Just six of their total 16 PL goals scored have come away from home (37.5%), with only one of them arriving against the upper-half-of-the-table side.
