Chelsea vs Norwich City 15/07/20

15 July 2020

Chelsea continue their pursuit of the top-four finish in the Premier League this midweek as they welcome basement boys Norwich City to Stamford Bridge.

The hosts have won four of six Premier League games post restart (L2), with four of those results (win-loss) featuring both teams on the scoresheet and a single-goal margin. In turn, the last four of them have seen the winner on the day find the net in the first half and score precisely three in total. Interestingly, quick-fire Chelsea have opened the scoring in 12 of 17 Premier League home fixtures (70.59%) and have yet to lose when they so (W9, D3). But, Frank Lampard could be worried about the fact that his side shipped 68.75% (11) of the 17 Premier League home goals conceded this season in the second half of play.

Meanwhile, dead-last visitors head to London on the back of seven Premier League defeats in a row, six of which saw them draw a blank. In turn, a genuine lack of goals has Norwich score a league-low seven goals away from home, as they remain the only side in England’s top-flight yet to smash a 30-goal barrier overall (26). Particularly ponderous in the final third before the break, the Canaries have netted just two first-half goals on the road – the division’s low. It will be a daunting prospect for Norwich to improve that record here, as they’ve failed to find the net in six of their last nine competitive trips to Stamford Bridge (D2, L7).
