Chelsea vs Crystal Palace 09/11/19

9 November 2019

After a spectacular 4-4 Champions League draw with Ajax, Chelsea return to the Premier League (PL) to entertain Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge.

Backed by an outstanding second-half performance against the Lancers, the hosts will be looking to extend their PL winning streak to six games and maintain a six-point lead on fifth-placed Arsenal. Rampant Blues side has netted over 1.5 match goals in four triumphs during that run, but they’ve kept a clean sheet only twice in the process. Curiously, just 34% of Chelsea’s total PL points have come at home (eight of 23), with the Pensioners winning two of five PL home outings so far (D2, L1). What’s more, Franck Lampard’s men have bagged only seven of 25 total league goals at Stamford Bridge (28%), failing to find the net in three of their last PL home fixtures.

Meanwhile, Crystal Palace travel across South London on a run of three straight league matches without a win (D1, L2), hoping to snap a two-game losing away streak to Chelsea. The Eagles have yet to keep a blank sheet away from home this term, with nine of their total 14 PL goals conceded coming on the road (64%). Roy Hodgson’s men have already visited three of the last season’s top-six sides, registering partial success (W1, D1, L1), although all of those games have featured over 2.5 goals. Palace usually move through the gears after the break, with four of six PL away goals they’ve scored so far coming in the second half.
