Chelsea vs Cardiff City 15/09/18

15 September 2018

The match between Chelsea and Cardiff City that shall take place at the Stamford Bridge this weekend will see the visitors hopelessly trying to clinch their first Premier League victory this season.

The arrival of Mauricio Sarrifrom Napoli has certainly made a positive impact on the team that last year failed to qualify for the Champions League, as the Blues so far collected a maximum of 12 points in the Premier League. The London-based club opened the new campaign with a stunning 3-0 triumph over Huddersfield Town on the road, after which they defeated Arsenal at home in a thrilling game that eventually ended 3-2. Newcastle United and Bournemouth also failed to resist against the rampant Chelsea attack that so far netted ten goals in the league.

The visitors probably have the weakest roster in the Premier League this year, which is why they are yet to win a game after the first four fixtures. The Bluebirds have lost to Bournemouth in the opening match by two goals to nil before playing out two straight scoreless draws with Newcastle at home and Huddersfield on the road. Just before the international break, Neil Warnock’s side lost 3-2 to the Gunners at the Cardiff City Stadium, settling with only two points and the 16th place.

The 25-year-old midfielder Marco van Ginkel will be the only player to skip the encounter in the home team, while Aron Gunnarsson and Nathaniel Mendez-Laing won’t appear for the visitors due to injuries.
