Celta Vigo vs Real Madrid 17/08/19

17 August 2019

Celta Vigo and Real Madrid go head-to-head at the Estadio de Balaídos for the opening match of the 2019-20 La Liga season.

The hosts have done well during the first part of their summer preparations, putting together three wins, all of which have been accompanied by a clean sheet. However, they come into this fixture after back-to-back losses, both of which have been settled by a narrow one-goal margin. However, the Celts have not only won four of their previous five LL home outings (W4, D1), but they’ve also scored 2+ match goals across all of those games, keeping a clean sheet only once though. Nonetheless, it will be a daunting prospect for Celta to pick up three points here, as they’ve failed to beat Real Madrid in their last six home H2Hs across all competitions (D2, L4).

Meanwhile, the visitors have endured a rough summer by their standards (W2, D2, L3), with five of their seven pre-season games producing over 2.5 goals and seeing both teams score. Still, a disappointing end to last season has seen Los Blancos pull off just one triumph in the final five games in the 2018-19 campaign (W1, D1, L3), with Zinedine Zidane’s men failing to find the back of the net on three occasions in the process. What’s more, Los Blancos have struggled to secure a win in their last five LL away games (D2, L3), scoring one goal or less across all of those matches.
