Cardiff City vs Watford 23/02/19

23 February 2019

Cardiff City and Watford go head-to-head at the Cardiff City Stadium as the hosts go after revenge on a 3-2 loss from the first half of the season.

Although they’ve picked up two consecutive Premier League wins, Cardiff City are still frantically looking over their shoulders as currently reside one point above the relegation zone. Far more comfortable at home, the returnees have secured five wins in 12 PL home outings (W5, D2, L6), scoring 2+ match goals in four. The Bluebirds seem to be on the verge of finding a way out of a severe attacking crisis that has seen them failed to find the back of the net in four successive games across all competitions. For the first time this season, Neil Warnock’s men have bagged over 1.5 goals per match twice in a row.

On the other hand, the visitors have brought a three-game PL winless run to an end (D2, L1), clinching a narrow 1-0 win over Everton last time out. Watford’s indifferent road form (W4, D5, L4) could be a troubling fact for Javi Gracia, especially considering his men have failed to wrap up all three points on their last two PL road trips (D1, L1). Surprisingly, the Hornets have struggled to beat both of the bottom-five teams they’ve played against away from home (D1, L1). Nonetheless, the Golden Boys come into this meeting off the back of a 1-0 road win over QPR in the FA Cup, which was the second straight away clash in which they’ve managed to keep a clean sheet.
