Cagliari vs Juventus 30/07/20

30 July 2020

Juventus travel to the Sardegna Arena to face Cagliari, looking to bring an unbeaten run in their Serie A H2Hs to 19 (W15, D3)!

The hosts have drawn four of eight Serie A games this month, losing the other four, mainly thanks to a lack of firepower upfront. Indeed, the ‘Sardinians’ have drawn a blank on five of those occasions, scoring precisely once per match on the other three. In turn, Cagliari have score only once in their last four Serie A home outings (D2, L1), with each of those games featuring under 2.5 total goals. That’s a trend that seems highly unlikely to end here, given that they’ve netted under 1.5 goals in all eight of their previous top-flight H2Hs held at this venue (L8). But, if they do score here, Walter Zenga’s men may as well do it after the break – the majority (66.67%) of Cagliari’s league home goals scored this term came after the break (20/30).

Meanwhile, a 2-0 home win over Sampdoria last time out sealed Juventus’ record-extending ninth successive Serie A title! However, the reigning champions head to Cagliari on a run of three away league matches without a win (D1, L2) despite finding the opener in each. That’s because all of those games saw them concede over 1.5 second-half goals. That pretty much stays in line with Juve’s repeated defensive problems after the break – the vast majority (79.17%) of their Serie A away goals conceded this campaign arrived in the second half (19/24). Despite scoring 2+ goals in just over 50% of their Serie A trips this term, the ‘Bianconeri’ are one of just six sides to smash a 30-goal barrier on the road.
