Burnley vs Manchester City 28/04/19

28 April 2019

In-form Burnley side meet Manchester City face-to-face at Turf Moor, desperate to snap a seven-game winless run against reigning Premier League holders (D1, L6).

Having won three of their last four PL fixtures (W3, D1), the hosts have created a comfortable nine-point gap on 18th-placed Cardiff City, with three league matches left to play. With Burnley’s form on the rise once again, Sean Dyche’s men have secured back-to-back PL home wins after suffering two straight home defeats. The Clarets need, however, to take care of their defensive woes that have seen them concede over 1.5 match goals in eight of 17 PL home outings this term. Although Burnley endured mixed fortunes over the past seven PL games (W3, D1, L3), they’ve still provided entertainment to the neutral, as five of those clashes have produced over 2.5 goals, with each featuring goals on both ends.

Meanwhile, the visitors can’t afford a mistake here as they currently top the Premier League table with a narrow 1-point lead over second-placed Liverpool. An impressive run of form has seen the Citizens win all 11 of their previous PL outings, with seven of those triumphs has seen them beat their rivals to nil. Additionally, six of Man City’s last seven PL wins have been settled by a comfortable two-goal margin, with three of those games ending with the same 2-0 scoreline in their favor. Pep Guardiola’s players boast league’s joint-best away scoring record (33) with Kun Aguero and Co. netting 2+ match goals in ten of 17 PL road clashes so far this campaign.
