Burnley vs Leicester City 16/03/19

16 March 2019

Relegation-threatened Burnley welcome unpredictable Leicester City to Turf Moor desperately trying to bring a three-game Premier League losing streak to an end.

Three straight league failures in which they’ve conceded nine goals and scored just three have seen the hosts tumbling down the table as they currently sit 17th. Residing just two points clear of 18th-placed Cardiff City, the Clarets are frantically looking over their shoulders, but can still rely on some promising home displays over the past few weeks. Although Sean Dyche’s men lost their last PL home fixture, they have secured three wins in four games prior to a 3-1 loss to Crystal Palace. Interestingly, four of Barnley’s five PL home triumphs have seen them scored over 1.5 goals per match while keeping a clean sheet on three occasions in the process. Another encouraging fact for the home fans is that their Burnley have outplayed Leicester in both of their previous H2H meetings at this venue without much fanfare.

On the other hand, Brendan Rodgers has registered his first PL victory since replacing Claude Puel on the bench by beating Fulham 3-1 at home. However, it’s still to be seen whether the former Celtic boss could drag the Foxes out from a severe crisis that has seen them lose six of their last nine PL clashes (W2, D1, L6). Additionally, Leicester are yet to win away from home since January 1 having lost three of their previous four PL road encounters (D1, L3). In that period, Kasper Schmeichel has conceded ten goals, while Jamie Vardy and his fellow teammates scored six. Also, four of Leicester’s last five away meetings across all competitions have produced over 2.5 goals per match, while all five have seen goals on both ends.
