Brighton & Hove Albion vs Manchester United 19/08/18
19 August 2018
After suffering a 2-0 loss to Watford on the road in the first Premier League fixture, Brighton & Hove Albion will host Manchester United at the Amex Stadium hoping for a positive outcome in effort to boost their confidence ahead of the tough season. The Seagulls have featured in five friendly matches this summer following a successful campaign by their standards, as they have managed to avoid relegation in the first season since returning to the English top flight. However, the preparation period hasn’t gone as good as expected, considering the fact that Chris Hughton’s team have only managed to pull off one victory, 2-1 over Nantes, while drawing three times and losing once in the process. The Red Devils, on the other hand, have opened the Premier League campaign with a 2-1 win over Leicester City at the Old Trafford, although Jose Mourinho is still far from satisfied after a numerous discussions he has had with the management during the summer. The three-time Champions League winners are hopeful they can overthrow the city rivals this year, despite they have failed to secure the services of an experienced defender , which has been their primary objective during the transfer window.
The appearance of Florin Andone and Jose Izquierdo still hangs in the balance after the duo skipped the match against the Hornets last weekend, while Dalot, Ander Herrera, Nemanja Matic, Sergio Romero, and Antonio Valencia should all miss the encounter for the visitors.
