Brighton & Hove Albion vs Arsenal 27/12/18

27 December 2018

Wednesday’s Boxing Day Premier League clash between Brighton & Hove Albion and Arsenal will see the hosts trying to bring a three-game losing streak to an end.

Brighton’s first half of the season has been highlighted by numerous ups and downs, with the Seagulls winning and losing in sequences. Sitting 13th with a record of six wins, three draws, and nine losses, Brighton emerged as one of the most unpredictable teams in the English top-tier competition. Although they’ve lost their last home game (2-1 to Chelsea), Chris Hughton’s men have secured three wins in their previous five home outings. Also, the Seagulls have scored in all of their eight home games in the Premier League this season but have managed to notch more than one goal per match just three times so far. A potential problem for Hughton could be that his players have lost all of their four games against top-five EPL sides this term, with two of those four failures came in front of their home supporters.

Meanwhile, the visitors are looking for back-to-back Premier League wins following a 3-1 home triumph over Burnley last weekend. A turbulent spell for the Gunners has seen them losing two straight matches, 3-2 to Southampton in the Premier League and 2-0 to Tottenham in the EFL Cup. The aforementioned failure against the Saints has brought Arsenal’s 22-game unbeaten run across all competitions to an end, as it was also their second road defeat this campaign following a 3-2 loss to Chelsea in the second season’s fixture. Unai Emery’s main concern ahead of this trip is the fact his players have conceded 15 goals away from home, struggling to keep a clean sheet in all of their eight away clashes so far. However, Arsenal are one of four teams in the English top flight that have managed to score on every road trip this season, while they are the only side to score at least two goals per match in each of their eight away meetings thus far.
