Brighton & Hove Albion vs Arsenal

The Amex Stadium sets the stage for a handsomely-looking Premier League encounter between out-of-sorts Brighton & Hove Albion and title-chasing Arsenal.

Brighton narrowly avoided losing five successive away games for the first time since 2006 with a tepid 0-0 draw at Brentford in midweek Premier League action. Despite attempting 24 shots and generating a respectable 1.19 xG, Roberto De Zerbi’s men had to settle for a fourth winless league outing in their last five (D2, L2), throwing their European aspirations in harm’s way. Once among the most exciting Premier League sides, the Seagulls have notoriously struggled in front of goal since a 5-0 thumping of rock-bottom Sheffield United in mid-February, netting under 1.5 goals in eight competitive fixtures since that triumph at an average of 0.5 per game. Despite their disastrous scoring record, Brighton are unbeaten in their last 14 matches in East Sussex, all competitions included (W8, D6).

Visiting Arsenal will be out to knock Brighton down from their formidable home run, buoyed by their hosts’ embarrassing record in Premier League games they’ve started as betting underdogs this season (W1, D1, L7). Mikel Arteta’s lads take this trip in high spirits after two unanswered first-half goals inspired them to a routine 2-0 home triumph against Luton in midweek Premier League action, making it nine wins in their top-flight fixtures in 2024 (D1). The only blemish on this outstanding record was a scoreless draw against fellow title hopefuls Manchester City last weekend. It’s worth noting that they’ve netted multiple goals in all nine league victories this calendar year, a feat they’ve only achieved once on six previous Premier League visits to the Amex. But it came in this corresponding fixture last term as the Gunners romped Brighton 4-2.
