Brescia vs AC Milan 25/01/20

25 January 2020

Relegation-threatened Brescia welcome resurgent AC Milan to the Stadio Mario Rigamonti desperate to snap a three-game losing run in Serie A (SA) H2Hs.

A 2-2 home draw with Cagliari last weekend now means the hosts have failed to pick up a single win in five consecutive league games (D2, L3), as they remain stuck in the relegation territory, one point adrift of 17th-placed Lecce. Frustratingly for the home fans, only five of Brescia’s total 15 SA points have come at the Stadio Mario Rigamonti (33%), with three of their four league wins arriving on the road. Furthermore, ‘La Rondinelle’ have so far shipped more home goals than any other side in Italy (21), conceding over 1.5 goals in six of their last seven league outings at this venue. During the same six-match sequence, Eugenio Corini’s men have drawn a blank on three occasions, scoring 2+ goals on two of the other three.

After a disappointing start to the new calendar year that saw Milan play out a goalless home draw with Sampdoria, the visitors have stepped up their game, winning all of their subsequent three competitive fixtures. ‘I Rossoneri’ have endured mixed fortunes in their ten SA road trips so far this season (W5, L5), although three of those five wins have come in the last four away games. Curiously, four of Milan’s SA away triumphs have arrived via a single-goal margin, with three of them coming against the clubs sitting in the bottom half of the table ahead of this round. Stefano Pioli’s players will have to focus on finding the opening goal here, as they’ve returned just three points from four away matches where they conceded first (W1, L4).
