Brentford vs Everton
Brentford and Everton are set to face off at the Brentford Community Stadium in an intriguing Premier League clash.
Despite hauling back a 2-0 deficit at Fulham last weekend, Brentford eventually found themselves on the wrong end of a 3-2 scoreline, maintaining their mixed three-game start to the new Premier League season (W1, D1, L1). However, the ‘Bees’ claimed an overwhelming 4-0 victory over Manchester United in their only home league game this term, marking a fifth clean sheet in their last six top-flight outings on home turf. Equally impressive at the other end of the pitch, Thomas Frank’s men have netted 2+ goals in each of their three opening league fixtures this season, suggesting they could keep an impressive 100% Premier League record against Everton intact (W2). Adding to this sentiment, Brentford have only lost one of their nine league meetings with this opposition at home (W6, D2), courtesy of a 4-2 defeat in 1952.
In the meantime, after securing Premier League survival by the skin of their teeth last season, Everton have established themselves as one of the likeliest candidates to drop to the EFL Championship come May 2023. Following a brace of one-goal margin defeats to Chelsea and Aston Villa on the opening two matchdays, the ‘Toffees’ came from behind to hold newly-promoted Nottingham Forest to a 1-1 home draw last time out. Everton’s poor form at the start of the season combined with an uneventful recruitment campaign over the summer suggests the visitors could begin a new top-flight season winless in four matches for the first time since 2010/11. That’s more than possible, considering Everton picked up just one point from six Premier League visits to London last season (D1, L5).
