Brazil vs Switzerland 18/06/18

18 June 2018

At the Rostov Arena in Rostov, Brazil and Switzerland will face off against each other, with one of the principal candidates to lift the World Cup trophy looking to kick-off their World Cup journey. After a strong performance in the CONMEBOL qualifying competition, where they’ve finished top of the group with only one defeat, the Selecao continued to produce remarkable results, achieving four consecutive wins, all against the European teams, before making a trip to Russia. As for La Nati, they are undefeated in 2018, having won three out of four international friendlies they’ve played this year. Although Portugal had beaten them on a goal difference, Vladimir Petkovic’s team had managed to qualify for the World Cup finals over the UEFA play-off where they’veeliminated Northern Ireland 1-0 on aggregate.

The last time these two sides met at the World Cup was in 1950 when the final tournament was staged by Brazil, with the match ended in a 2-2 draw.

One of the best forwards in the world, Neymar Jr, will probably lead the Selecao’s attack alongside the likes of Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino, which portrays arguably the best offensive line of the tournament. On the other hand, Granit Xhaka and Xherdan Shaqiri are the players that should create the majority of goal-scoring opportunities in front of Alisson Becker’s goal.
