Borussia Monchengladbach vs RB Leipzig 21/04/19

21 April 2019

Borussia Monchengladbach and RB Leipzig go head-to-head at the Borussia-Park as the hosts hope to post their elusive first top-flight victory over the Red Bulls.

It will be a sixth H2H encounter between these two sides since Leipzig joined Bundesliga, and an in-form visitors hope to secure their fourth win over Monchengladbach in H2Hs (W3, D2).

Sitting fifth in the table, the hosts have six BL fixtures left to annul Eintracht Frankfurt’s one-point lead and break into the top four. However, the Foals are not having the best of times considering they’ve managed to clinch barely one victory in four of their previous BL outings (W1, D2, L1). Notably though, Dieter Hecking’s men are winless in their last five BL home games (D2, L3) having conceded 3+ match goals in all of their three failures in that period while failing to score over 1.5 match goals across all five meetings. Interestingly, before getting stuck in this nightmare, the Prussians have boasted a perfect home record of nine wins from as many games. Additionally, Monchengladbach have also struggled to provide entertainment to the neutral in the recent period with four of their last five BL clashes featuring under 2.5 goals.

Meanwhile, the visitors reside third with a seven-point lead over their next rivals and seem to be comfortably cruising towards the Champions League promotion. The Bulls go into this meeting off the back of a four-game BL winning streak that has seen them beating their rivals to nil three times while scoring 2+ match goals on three occasions too. What’s more, Ralf Rangnick’s players have racked up a six-game BL road winning run in the build-up to this encounter, and four of those triumphs have been accompanied by clean sheets. Just like Monchengladbach, goals have been in short supply for the Red Bulls in the recent period, with five of their last seven BL games producing under 2.5 goals.
