Borussia Mönchengladbach vs Hertha BSC 27/06/20

27 June 2020

Borussia Mönchengladbach will look to seal their place in the next season’s Champions League group stage when they take on Hertha BSC at the Borussia-Park on the final matchday of the 2019/20 Bundesliga season this weekend.

A slight upturn in results that saw Mönchengladbach go from two successive Bundesliga losses to back-to-back triumphs has propelled the hosts to fourth, and a victory against a side they’ve beaten in five of their last six top-flight H2Hs here (L1) would see them secure the Champions League qualification for the next season. Interestingly, five of the Foals’ six Bundesliga results (win/loss) since the league’s restart (W4, D1, L3) saw the winner on the day open the scoring before the halftime whistle and score over 2.5 total goals. The Borussia-Park has been a venue of entertainment in 2020, with six of Mönchengladbach’s seven league fixtures here since the turn of the year producing at least three goals and five featuring both teams score, too.

Meanwhile, a 2-0 home triumph over Bayer Leverkusen last time out brought Hertha’s three-game Bundesliga losing streak to an end. Curiously, each of Hertha’s five league victories this calendar year saw them find the net at least once in the second half, with four of them yielding a clean sheet, too. However, ‘Die Alte Dame’ head to the Borussia-Park on a three-game winless Bundesliga away run (D1, L2), with six of the eight goals (scored/concede) across those matches coming in the second half of play. In turn, the majority (67.35%) of Hertha’s league away goals this season came after the break (33/49).
