Borussia Dortmund will try to put a four-game winless run (D2, L2) in their Bundesliga H2Hs with TSG Hoffenheim to a halt when the two sides lock horns at the Signal Iduna Park this weekend.

Dortmund have won six of eight Bundesliga fixtures since the league’s restart (L2), with seven of those results (win/loss) seeing the winner on the day keep a blank sheet. However, seven of those eight matches featured under 1.5 first-half goals, with five producing under 2.5 goals in total. The clean-sheet theme is most definitely on the cards here, given that only one of Dortmund’s eight Bundesliga home outings in 2020 saw both teams score (W6, L2). That’s a sharp contrast to their recent top-flight H2Hs held at this venue. Indeed, nine of the BVB’s last ten Bundesliga clashes against Hoffenheim at the Singal Iduna Park have seen both teams on the scoresheet, with seven producing over 2.5 goals, too (W6, D3, L1).

On the other hand, the visitors, who travel to Dortmund on a run of six consecutive Bundesliga away games without a loss (W2, D4), need to pick up three points and hope Wolfsburg won’t beat Bayern Munich at home to qualify for the next season’s Europa League group stage. But, Hoffenheim will have to drastically improve their first-half performances to beat Borussia here, as they won just two of 16 Bundesliga away first-halves so far (away HT score: W2, D8, L6). In turn, the vast majority (73.91%) of Hoffenheim’s league goals scored on the road this term came after the halftime break (17/23).
