Borussia Dortmund vs RB Leipzig
Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig will face each other in a massive, heavyweight Bundesliga contest at Signal Iduna Park.
Having won all nine competitive matches since the league resumed after the World Cup break, including a 1-0 Bundesliga triumph at TSG Hoffenheim last weekend, Borussia Dortmund seem in a prime position to conquer this top-four six-pointer. Indeed, amends for a woeful 3-0 defeat in the reverse fixture earlier in the season is on the cards, even though Leipzig thrashed them 4-1 at this venue last season. High scoring has been a common theme at Signal Iduna Park in 2023, with each of Dortmund’s three home league outings this calendar year producing over 4.5 goals and both teams on the scoresheet. That has incidentally been the case in their last five top-flight H2Hs against Leipzig on home turf, making it a bit strange that just one game in that sequence ended level (W2, D1, L2).
In the meantime, visiting RB Leipzig have forced their way back into the Bundesliga top-four with back-to-back victories over fellow European hopefuls Wolfsburg and Eintracht Frankfurt. Despite holding a slender one-point lead over fifth-placed Freiburg at the start of this round, ‘Die Roten Bullen’ are gunning for the title, with top-placed Bayern Munich only four points away. Leipzig’s genuine title hopes can draw further confidence from a stellar seven-game unbeaten run on the road (W4, D3), with Marco Rose’s men winning four of their last five top-flight outings on hostile turf (D1), three of which via multi-goal margins.
