Borussia Dortmund vs Lazio 12/08/18
12 August 2018
After completing their International Champions Cup journey, Borussia Dortmund continue their preparations ahead of the new season, as the Bundesliga giants prepare to take on Lazio at the Stadion Essen on home soil. The Black and Yellows had an extensive warm-up campaign that started with two consecutive draws, 4-4 with Zwickau and 1-1 with FC Los Angeles before they recorded their first summer victory, a narrow 1-0 win over Austria Wien. After those three matches, the BVB made a trip to the United States where they achieved two major victories, 1-0 over Manchester City and 3-1 over Liverpool 3-1 before losing to Benfica on penalties although they had a 2-0 lead on the halftime. After returning to Europe, Lucien Favre’s team played out an uninspiring 1-1 draw with Rennes. On the other hand, I Biancocelesti started to prepare for the new campaign a bit later than expected, having played against two domestic clubs, Triestina and SPAL, where Simone Inzaghi’s players grasped two routine 3-0 wins. However, the Rome giants failed to leave up to expectations in their first significant match this summer, as Arsenal run them over last weekend, securing a comfortable 2-0 victory.
According to the reports, Favre will have all three summer signings, including Thomas Delaney, Achraf Hakimi, and Abdou Diallo, at his disposal for the match. As for Lazio, Francesco Acerbi, Silvio Proto, Riza Durmisi, and Valon Berisha, who all joined Lazio this summer should all find themselves among the players that will face the Bundesliga heavyweights.
