Borussia Dortmund vs Borussia Monchengladbach 20/10/19

20 October 2019

Borussia Dortmund and Borussia Monchengladbach go head-to-head in a massive Bundesliga (BL) clash at the Signal Iduna Park.

Three consecutive BL draws mean that the hosts last tasted league victory in mid-September when they outclassed Bayer Leverkusen 4-0 at home. Interestingly, each of these stalemates has ended with the identical 2-2 scoreline, with two witnessing the BVB blow a one-goal lead in the final three minutes with an own goal. Far more comfortable at home, Lucien Favre’s men have won two of three BL matches at the Signal Iduna Park so far (D1), both via at least a four-goal margin. The third success is on the cards here, as they’ve secured five straight top-flight home triumphs over Monchengladbach, netting 4+ match goals in three of the last four home wins in H2Hs. Dortmund’s pursuit of three points is also backed by an impressive BL home form since the turn of the year (W8, D2, L1).

Meanwhile, the current BL toppers head to Dortmund on a four-game winning league run looking to snap a dreadful eight-game losing streak in H2Hs. Huge encouragement for the visitors’ hopes of grabbing their first league win at this venue since March 2014 is that they’ve won all three of their BL away matches so far. While two of these triumphs saw Monchengladbach score exactly three goals, only one has testified a ball ending up in their net. If the Foals do manage to come out on top, Dortmund will not get on the scoresheet in all probability, as seven of Monchengladbach’s eight BL away wins in 2019 saw them beat their rivals to nil.
