Borussia Dortmund vs Bochum 28/08/20
28 August 2020
Borussia Dortmund welcome Bochum to the Signal Iduna Park for one of their two pre-season friendlies scheduled for Friday.
Borussia Dortmund had produced an outstanding off-season campaign, putting together three remarkable wins before a 3-1 defeat to Feyenoord halted their momentum. Indeed, all three of the hosts’ pre-season victories have seen ‘Die Borussen’ score over 4.5 goals and secure a full-time margin of at least five goals, including an 11-2 thumping of Austria Wien. Interestingly, the majority (56.52%) of Dortmund’s goals scored during their summer preparations arrived in the second half of play (13/23), with four of their six goals conceded coming before the half-time break (66.67%). Another high-scoring contest is on the cards, considering all four of their previous H2Hs with Bochum have seen over 2.5 goals and both teams score (W2, D1, L1).
Meanwhile, the visitors are going through an utterly underwhelming pre-season campaign, having failed to find the back of the net in their opening three friendly fixtures (D1, L2). Curiously, all of those warm-up matches have featured under 2.5 goals, with each of their three goals conceded coming in the first half of play. In turn, seven of Bochum’s last eight away games have contained less than three goals, with just one seeing both sides hit the net (W2, D3, L3). A trip to the Signal Iduna Park may stir more painful memories, given ‘Die Unabsteigbaren’ have failed to beat Dortmund in all nine of their previous H2Hs held at this venue (D2, L7).
