Borussia Dortmund vs Atletico Madrid 25/10/18

25 October 2018

The leaders of the Champions League Group A are set for a face-to-face meeting, as Borussia Dortmund look to take on Atletico Madrid at Singal Iduna Park.

The Yellow and Blacks have been outstanding this season on multiple fronts, as they currently top their respective Champions League group, as well as, the Bundesliga table. After a tight 1-0 triumph over Club Brugge on the opening matchday, the BVB have swept AS Monaco aside with a stunning 3-0 home victory to clinch the top spot. Meanwhile, Lucien Favre’s side so far played six matches in front of the home crowd, having secured all six wins, scoring 22 goals in the process. Additionally, the German giants are undefeated this season, as they hope to extend an impressive 6-game winning streak.

On the other hand, Los Colchoneros have notably raised their game following a turbulent start of the season. Los Rojiblancos are undefeated in the previous eight matches in all competitions, having achieved five triumphs while playing out three draws in the process. Diego Simeone’s team wrapped up two Champions League triumphs, beating AS Monaco by two goals to one in the opener, after which they’ve outscored Club Brugge at home, 3-1. However, Atletico struggled against Villarreal during weekend’s La Liga clash, barely dodging a defeat, as the encounter ended in a 1-1 draw although the Yellow Submarine missed a couple of sitters in the second half.

Manuel Akanji, Marcel Schmelzer, Jeremy Toljan, and Raphael Guerreiro have suffered various injuries and will have to skip the match, while Diego Costa and Stefan Savic probably won’t be playing for the visitors.
