Bolton Wanderers vs West Bromwich Albion 22/01/19

22 January 2019

A struggling Bolton Wanderers side welcome West Bromwich Albion to the Macron Stadium hoping to end a three-game Championship winless streak (D1, L2).

The Trotters desperately need a positive outcome as they currently trail the safe zone by three points. However, Bolton’s home displays this season have been far from inspiring as they’ve won just three of 13 Championship home outings while suffering seven losses in the process. The Whites are having enormous problems in attack, having failed to hit the net in seven home clashes so far, while bagging over 1.5 goals per match only twice in the run. Bolton’s defense has also shown notable weaknesses this term, with Phil Parkinson witnessing his players conceding a goal in 11 of 14 home encounters in all competitions.

On the other hand, the Baggies come into this meeting trying to end a three-game league winless run (D2, L1) and boost their chances in their fight for the Premier League promotion. WBA’s recent failures have everything to do with the declining attacking outputs that have seen them score exactly one goal in each of their last four competitive outings. A 2-1 away loss to Blackburn has brought WBA’s four-game road winning streak to an end, and it was the 12th time in their 13 road games they’ve struggled to keep a clean sheet. Still, the Throstles have allowed over 1.5 goals per game away from home only four times so far. Meanwhile, all of WBA’s last five road clashes have produced over 2.5 goals, with Darren Moore’s men scoring over 1.5 goals per match four times in that period.
