Bologna vs Juventus 24/02/19

24 February 2019

Coming off the frustrating 2-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League, Juventus travel to the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara to take on a vulnerable Bologna team.

The hosts fight tooth and nail to avoid relegation, but they are still trailing 17th-placed Empoli by three points. Not only they go into this meeting off the back of two successive failures (D1, L1) but the Greyhounds have failed to pick up all three points in their last seven SA home outings (D4, L3). Speaking of their problems in Emilia-Romagna, Bologna’s last home victory against Juventus dates back to 1998, after which they’ve lost 13 of 18 H2H clashes with the Turin giants at this venue (D5, L13). What’s more, the Rossoblu have scored just one goal in their previous six H2H meetings with Juventus here. Sinisa Mihajlovic has to find a way to solve Bologna’s immense problems in the final third that have seen them score barely one goal in their last five home games across all competitions. In the same period, they have conceded nine goals, allowing over 1.5 goals per match on three occasions in the process.

Meanwhile, the visitors boast an almost perfect road record (W10, D1) having scored 2+ match goals ten times along the way. With 52 goals scored in the opening 24 SA games, the Old Lady are the best offensive team in the Italian top flight. Furthermore, the Bianconeri have scored over 2.5 goals per match in four of their last five SA fixtures, while keeping a clean sheet three times in the process. No team has shipped fewer goals away from home than Juventus (7) this campaign, with Massimiliano Allegri’s men keeping six clean sheets on 11 SA road trips. Another encouraging fact for the reigning holders is that they’ve conceded just two goals in the previous six H2H meetings with Bologna, bagging 2+ match goals in each.
