BG Pathum United vs Port
BG Stadium is the venue as BG Pathum United and Port go head-to-head in an evenly-poised Thai FA Cup last-16 tie.
Pathum United have been off to a flying start to 2022 competitive action, going unbeaten in all five matches so far (W3, D2) despite failing to keep a single clean sheet in that time. After putting Chingmai United to the sword last time out (4-1), the ‘Rabbits’ will be looking to register back-to-back victories in all competitions for the first time since a run of five in October/November. Makoto Teguramori’s men have been nothing short of outstanding at home lately, racking up five triumphs from their last six home fixtures (D1), though it’s worth noting that 60% of those successes came by a narrow 1-0 scoreline. But that should be enough to inspire Pathum’s efforts to extend their four-match unbeaten H2H streak on home turf (W3, D1).
In the meantime, Port have experienced a thoroughly disappointing start to the new calendar year, going unbeaten in all four competitive games so far (D2, L2 – including penalties). Despite succumbing to a 3-2 away defeat to Chonburi last time out, they can at least draw some confidence from snapping a run of two consecutive matches without scoring. Worryingly, though, after putting together three successive away wins in November, the ‘Port Lions’ have won none of their last three road trips in all competitions (D2, L1), with both of those draws yielding an uneventful 0-0 scoreline. However, a hard-fought 1-0 victory in their most recent meeting with Pathum United back in November could provide Sarawut Treephan with some hope of staging an upset here.
