BG Pathum United vs Muang Thong United

BG Pathum United will entertain out-of-sorts Muang Thong United at the BG Stadium in an enthralling Thai League 1 encounter.

Since a narrow 1-0 defeat away to table-toppers Chonburi on the opening weekend, Pathum United have gone unbeaten in all four subsequent Thai League 1 games (W2, D2). High scoring has been a common theme in Pathum’s recent league matches, as three of their last four have featured both teams scoring at least twice. With five of their six previous top-flight meetings with Muang Thong seeing both teams on the scoresheet in matches garnering over 2.5 goals, another high-scoring affair could be in order. But more importantly, after going unbeaten in their last two top-flight H2Hs (W1, D1), the ‘Rabbits’ will feel enthusiastic about maintaining their eye-catching domestic form.

In the meantime, visiting Muang Thong United slumped to a horrendous 5-1 home defeat to Chonburi on the stroke of the international break. That loss sums up the visitors’ faltering season start in a nutshell, as they’ve only won one of their opening six league outings (D3, L2). What’s more, the ‘Twin Qilins’ have gone winless in all three Thai League 1 away fixtures this season (D2, L1), all of which contained under 2.5 total goals. Muang Thong’s cagey entries have seen them score just one first-half goal in their opening three away league contests, suggesting Pathum could take control of proceedings from the get-go.
