Belgium vs Egypt 07/06/18

7 June 2018

After a quite disappointing performance against Portugal over the weekend, Belgium are set to host Egypt at the King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels looking for a victory to boost squad morale ahead of the 2018 World Cup. One of the most gifted national teams on the planet failed to produce the expected results during the last two major international competitions, and the World Cup in Russia might be the last opportunity for this super talented generation to achieve something big. However, De Rode Duivels’ last defeat dates back to 2016, which is only the further confirmation of their quality. On the other hand, Egypt that will also find themselves in Russia are yet to win a match in 2018, as they’ve lost two out of their previous four games this year. Two national teams have faced off each other two times in the past, with Egypt beating the European side both times.

Romelu Lukaku who skipped the game against Portugal will probably return to the starting eleven for the home team. As for the visitors, a shoulder injury picked up by Mohamed Salah during the Champions League final has caused a sizeable headache to the Pharaons’ head coach Héctor Cúper.
