Bayern Munich vs Stuttgart 26/01/19

26 January 2019

Bayern Munich welcome Stuttgart to the Allianz Arena looking for revenge on last season’s 4-1 hammering at this venue in the last Bundesliga fixture.

The Swabians are more than welcome at the Allianz Arena, considering they’ve lost 17 of their last 18 H2H meetings with Bayern. Not only for revenge, but the Bavarians are obliged to win this one as they chase the league leaders Borussia Dortmund, whom they trail by six points. Surprisingly, the reigning holders have not been convincing at home as usual (W4, D3, L1) having secured just two wins in their last five Bundesliga home clashes (W2, D2, L1). However, the Bavarians have moved up a gear, registering six successive Bundesliga triumphs, while keeping a clean sheet in the previous four victories. In that period, Niko Kovac’s men have bagged 16 goals, scoring over 2.5 goals per match four times in the process.

On the other hand, the visitors are having a hard time as they’ve lost four of their last five Bundesliga outings (W1, L4). What’s more, Stuttgart’s road form can’t encourage Markus Weinzierl ahead of this trip, considering his players lost seven of nine Bundesliga road trips (W1, D1, L7), while failing to hit the net in six. Stuttgart’s tally of six goals scored away from home is a league low, with the Reds notching over 1.5 goals on the road just twice so far. Also, a defense that has already conceded 20 goals on the road would hardly come in handy against the team whom they’ve failed to prevent from scoring in 19 successive H2H encounters.
