Bayern Munich vs Manchester United 06/08/18
6 August 2018
With the Premier League 2018-2019 campaign in sight, Manchester United are looking to step up the pace to prepare for the new season as best as possible, and a match against the current Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich that will take place at the Allianz Arena will be the right opportunity for Jose Mourinho to test some of the players that skipped the United States tour due to their commitments at the World Cup. Both sides have participated in the International Champions Cup, playing three matches apiece. The Bavarians lost 2-0 to Juventus and 3-2 to Manchester City, while beating Paris Saint-Germain by three goals to one in the process although Niko Kovac had to rely mainly on youngsters. The similar thing happened to the Red Devils, as Mourinho already entered an open discussion with the management due to a “bad organization” according to his judgment, as he was forced to use players that would hardly find room in the first team next season. Therefore, the Premier League giants had big troubles facing AC Milan whom they barely defeated after a penalty-shoot-out, while they miserably failed to deliver any positive signs against Liverpool who destroyed them by four goals to one. United’s only triumph was a 2-1 win over Real Madrid in their last ICC match.
For the first time this summer, both managers will have almost entire first-team members at their disposal, as all of the World Cup participants returned to training after an extended break.
