Bayern Munich vs Manchester City 29/07/18

29 July 2018

At the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida, Bayern Munich and Manchester City will play their third match at this summer’s International Champions Cup, with the Citizens looking to improve a negative record of two consecutive defeats at summer’s most prestigious international friendly tournament. Before making their trip to the United States where they lost to Juventus by two goals to nil, the Bavarians faced off against Paris Saint-Germain in their first preparation game, achieving a convincing 3-1 win over a mixed Parisian team. Meanwhile, Manchester City arrived in the United States without sixteen first-team members, as Pep Guardiola only called up Claudio Bravo, Ryad Mahrez, who arrived at the Etihad Stadium after the end of the World Cup, and Leroy Sane, who has been left out of the German squad for the most significant football event in 2018. With quite modified team mostly comprised of youngsters and players that would hardly find their place in the first team next season, City lost both matches at the ICC, 1-0 to Borussia Dortmund and 2-1 to Liverpool.

Niko Kovac won’t have Javi Martinez at his disposal because the former Athletic Bilbao midfielder suffered a back injury against Juventus that forced him to leave the field in the first half. As for Manchester City, Guardiola might opt to introduce Sane from the first minute for the first time since the start of the preparation period.
