Bayern Munich vs Fenerbahce 31/07/19
31 July 2019
Bayern Munich will take on the Audi Cup debutants Fenerbahce at the Allianz Stadium looking to regain the title after seeing Atletico Madrid walking away with the prize last time out.
The Bavarians have won four of the previous six editions of this two-day friendly tournament as they come into this meeting after securing back-to-back wins over Real Madrid and AC Milan in the 2019 International Champions Cup. The reigning Bundesliga holders have suffered one defeat in their pre-season so far, losing 2-1 to Arsenal in the opening match of the 2019 ICC. Interestingly, four of their five summer friendlies have seen both teams score, with four featuring at least one goal in the first half too. Niko Kovac’s men have been impressive at the Allianz Arena lately, racking up a six-game winning home streak at the end of last season. Four of those wins have seen them score five or more goals, while three have seen them beat their rivals to nil.
Meanwhile, Bayern will be the third German outfit Fenerbahce will play against this summer, with the Turkish giants failing to secure a win against both Wolfsburg and Hertha Berlin (D1, L1). Still, the Yellow Canaries have put together two wins at the beginning of their summer preparations, beating the two domestic teams, Boluspor and Bursaspor, both by the same 2-0 scoreline. An encouraging start to the pre-season has coincided with Fenerbahce’s run of good form from the end of the last campaign that has seen them four straight wins in the domestic championship. Interestingly, three of those wins have seen Fenerbahce score two or more goals and concede precisely one.
