Bayer Leverkusen vs Borussia Monchengladbach 19/01/19

19 January 2019

One of the most entertaining clashes in the Bundesliga this weekend will take place at the BayArena, with Bayer Leverkusen preparing to take on Borussia Monchengladbach.

A turbulent first half of the season has seen Bayer Leverkusen wasting too many points by their standards (W7, D3, L7), as they currently sit ninth, with a 3-point deficit to the Europa League promotion zone. However, Die Werkself have risen before the break, securing back-to-back Bundesliga triumphs for the first time since September. What’s more, Peter Bosz’s men have racked up a three-game home winning run, scoring six while conceding just one goal in the process. The Company XI are one of four teams to score in each of their eight home league clashes this campaign, having scored over 1.5 goals per match four times so far.

Meanwhile, the visitors are looking to bounce back from a 2-1 road loss to Borussia Dortmund just before the break. Quite uncomfortable away from home (W2, D3, L4), the Foals still hope to get their revenge on a disastrous 5-0 home loss to Leverkusen in DFB Pokal back in October. But, the Borussians are winless on their last three Bundesliga road trips (D1, L2), having failed to score two times in that period. However, Borussia Monchengladbach are the only team in the German top tier to concede under 1.5 goals on each of their eight road trips this campaign, keeping a clean sheet five times in the process.

Three of the last five H2H meetings between Leverkusen and Borussia Monchengladbach at this venue have produced over 4.5 goals, while seven of the previous nine clashes at the BayArena saw both teams hitting the net.
